Reflux and Colic

Reflux is one of the leading causes or triggers of colic. However other times it may be more serious than colic and can go on much longer than colic would normally.

This makes sense in many ways, when babies are put on to their stomach they stop crying, this could be because the acids do not make it into theĀ esophagus when the baby is on the stomach.

If however your baby spits up quite happily with no apparent pain, then this indicates that reflux is probably not a problem for your baby.

A great indicator of reflux is when your baby does not feed well. Baby may be very keen to feed, but stops after a minute or two, then starts again. This happens because baby feels pain while eating. If your baby takes 20 minutes to eat 3-4 ounces then it is a good sign of reflux.

Does your baby get hiccups all day? This is another sign of reflux.
